Two key factors that set the Vantage Pro2 apart from most other complete weather stations are the refresh rate and the transmission distance:

  • Refresh Rate - A packet of data is sent from the outdoor transmitter to the receiver every 2 1/2 seconds! This means when you look out the window and see the wind blowing, the weather station will reflect it almost immediately.

  • Transmission Distance (This applies to the wireless version) - Line of sight range is 1000'. Typical range under most conditions is 300' to 500'. This is a much greater distance than most other professional units.

    The wireless, rugged outdoor sensor suite runs on solar power. A lithium battery provides backup at night and during cloudy, winter days. The cabled version receives power from the base station.

DAVIS VANTAGE PRO2 MODELS

All Davis Vantage Pro 2 models include:

  • Console with AC-power adapter. Wireless console may also be powered using three C batteries. Batteries should also be added to cabled console for backup during power outages. WeatherShack includes complimentary shipping and batteries on all orders.

  • Integrated sensor suite with rain collector, temperature and humidity sensors, and anemometer. The temperature and humidity sensors are integrated beneath the rain collector (very nice).

  • 40' (12m) anemometer cable. The anemometer connects to the rain gauge on both the wired and wireless versions. On the wireless version the transmitting back to the console is being performed by the primary rain/temperature/humidity sensor.

Vantage Pro2 with Fan Aspirated Radiation Shield

On this model, a motor-driven fan on the outdoor sensor draws air through the sensor chamber and exhausts it through the top of the shield.

This improves the temperature accuracy in areas where the temperature is very hot (over 90°) on a regular basis and the air is typically still.

The fan is powered via solar power on the wireless version and AC power on the cabled version.
