The Kestrel 4500 Pocket Weather Tracker does just that with its built in digital compass. But it doesn’t stop there. It also calculates crosswind and headwind/tailwind with reference to a user-set target heading, and stores the information along with all the other environmental readings in its 2000 data point memory.

The Kestrel 4500 NV (Night Vision) versions have a night-vision preserving backlight, which helps sustain the user's natural night vision. The backlight is also much dimmer than a standard backlight, making it more difficult to detect with the naked eye during night operations. The NV unit cases are available in Olive Drab or Desert Tan.

Kestrel 4500 models with wireless Bluetooth technology offer the ultimate in portable and accurate environmental data. Now, both real-time and logged data can be transferred wirelessly and automatically to a laptop or PDA. Wireless data transmission eliminates the need for a separate interface and cabling. Includes custom communication software designed to quickly and easily configure your data transmission frequency, download logged data, graph data, and transfer data to other applications. Data transmission range adjustment allows you to maximize power to communicate with your Kestrel within a 30 foot range, or reduce power for closer, more secure operation.
