M20-SMOOTH Reflector

The reflector is basically a mirror that projects an image of the light source. The uneven surface of orange peel reflectors scatter the light every which way to provide a better flood but they don't offer as much "throw" (or farthest distance the beam travels). They also tend to diffuse any imperfections or rings in the beam, which many flashlight owners dislike, and that's why orange peel reflectors typically come standard with flashlights.

Smooth reflectors, however, provide a truer image of the light source and consequently a longer throw. The optional Olight M20-SMOOTH Smooth Reflector for Olight M20 and M20-S flashlights is offered for those looking for the tightest beam with the farthest throw, as well as the best penetration through fog and smoke. Since smooth reflectors do show more imperfections in the beam pattern, if you decide to switch to a smooth reflector, never touch the inside surfaces with anything as they are extremely delicate.
