This sensor with your Acu-Rite temperature probe goes in the weather shield. Shades it from direct sunlight and you can get a real temperature outside your house with Acu-Rite.

We live in Inland Southern California and we worried that our sensor would be inaccurate in our extreme summer heat. It's not hot yet, but it sure will be. The shield was easy to attach to the sensor, and easy to hang on a post in our garden.

Over the years I have had to replace sensors due to leaving them in the elements. I am now using the Sensor Weather Shield to protect the sensor and I am also finding a more accurate temperature over the course of the day.
