The Kestrel 5200 Professional Environmental Meter with LiNK is a uniquely powerful measuring and data logging compact instrument. The Kestrel 5200 provides trusted accuracy, reliability for measuring weather data such as; evaporation rate, air velocity, air flow, air density, relative air density, Delta T and more. Features advanced calculators and readings to make any job easier. When paired with the rotating vane mount and a tripod (both sold separately) the meter becomes an independent monitoring station. The rotating vane securely mounts the Kestrel 5200 to any tripod or other ¼-20 fitted bracket. The large wind vane and precision pivot keeps the meter oriented into the wind for continuous measurement and logging of wind speed and all other key weather variables. Use it for HVAC & air conditioning balancing, construction, crop spraying/dusting, pouring concrete, research, safety, agriculture and many other profession or activities that require accurate monitoring. The meter features a large, high-resolution and contrast display along with a dual color backlight. It is drop-proof, dust-proof, waterproof and able to withstand harsh environments without damage. The Kestrel 5200 monitors and logs over 10,000 weather data sets that are time-stamped.
All Kestrel 5 Series meters allow a wired communication between the meter and a PC or Mac. Use the USB Data Transfer Cable (sold separately) and Kestrel LiNK free software to install firmware updates and upload data logged from your Kestrel meter in a comma delimited text file format. Save/View in a spreadsheet, database or text-editor software program. Communication between the USB cable and Kestrel meter is optical. Therefore does not jeopardize the Kestrel's watertight seal.
With the Kestrel LiNK free App, you can wirelessly connect any LiNK-enabled meter via Bluetooth to an iPhone, iPad or Android mobile device. View real-time measurements, receive on-screen alerts and download your data. Logged data can be viewed, analyzed, archived and shared via e-mail, Facebook and Twitter. The App also enables firmware update of Kestrel 5 series meters. The LiNK USB Bluetooth Low Energy Dongle (sold separately) is required to connect the meter to a PC or Mac.
Note: The meter and mobile device or computer must be within a range up to 100' line of sight for adequate Bluetooth connection. If planning to wirelessly connect the meter to a PC or Mac, a non-OEM USB dongle will not work with this meter.
The Kestrel 5200's Evaporation Rate calculator permits you to enter the temperature of your concrete mix (from a probe or IR thermometer), then measure conditions at the pour site. The Kestrel 5200 has the American Concrete Institute Evaporation Rate nomograph built in, and displays the Evaporation Rate right on screen with no calculation or error-prone interpolation. With that information in hand, decisions about additives to the mix or curing adjustments can be made, preventing costly plastic shrinkage cracks of the slab. Plus, the Kestrel 5200 allows you to monitor wind-loading on booms and cranes, and even track the heat index on your work site to keep your workers safe.
Volume air flow couldn't get any easier than this. Simply input the duct shape and dimensions and traverse the Kestrel 5200 across the duct. You'll get instantaneous and average volume air flow without the need for any geometry or calculations, readings that greatly assist in commissioning and performance balancing HVAC systems. While not a replacement for a balometer, the Kestrel 5200 is far less expensive and can save you time and money. The Kestrel 5200 also offers every common measurement of moisture content in air, making life easy to determine dehumidification needs.
For ducts that are out of reach, use any extension pole with a ¼-20 threaded mount and the Kestrel meter clamp (sold separately), then view the real-time data on the LiNK App.
Delta T allows you to accurately assess acceptable spraying conditions to ensure you're within guidelines and help you select the right spray nozzle. The Kestrel 5200 calculates and logs on-site Delta T without any additional user input. Based upon ambient temperature and dew point, Delta-T provides guidance on the evaporation rate of sprayed chemicals. When combined with the Kestrel 5200's average wind and max wind gust measurements, agriculture professionals can ensure they spray safely, every time. Farmers need a host of other environmental measurements. Use the volume air flow measurement to assess barn ventilation systems. Monitor temperature, humidity and heat index to ensure your animal facilities and feed mixtures are set up for maximum productivity. Measure micro-climates on your farm to ensure crops are sited where mold and disease will be minimized.
Kestrels have been put to the test in some of the harshest conditions on the planet. U.S. Special Forces, combat weather teams, wildland firefighters, smoke jumpers, Mt. Everest expeditions and auto pit crews are just a few who rely on a Kestrel to provide them with the crucial environmental data they need. Watch the Weather Channel during a hurricane, and you're sure to spot a Kestrel in action. Technicians have been purchasing Kestrel meters for their toolboxes for years, knowing they will provide the readings they need immediately and reliably. Construction managers all over the world have relied on their Kestrel meters to ensure work-site safety and cost-effective concrete pours. Farmers know a Kestrel meter can help them avoid property damage and maximize productivity. If environmental conditions are important in your profession, there is no better partner than a Kestrel 5200.
Kestrel Environmental Meters are proudly made in the USA and come with a 5-year manufacturer warranty.
