The Kestrel 5700 Sportsman LiNK-Enabled Weather Meter with Applied Ballistics is a uniquely powerful measuring and data logging compact instrument. The Kestrel 5700 utilizes Applied Ballistics G1/G7 solver that incorporates Jump, Spin Drift and Coriolis corrections to achieve accurate long-range shots. Muzzle Velocity Truing allows for accurate measurement of bullet speed without a chronograph. With options for Mils, MOA, or clicks the meter will work with any gun or targeting scope.
In addition to the ballistics solver capabilities, the Kestrel 5700 Sportsman is a comprehensive weather meter for measurement and logging of primary environmental conditions such as; temperature, humidity, altitude, barometric pressure, density altitude, heat stress index, wind chill, wind speed, wind direction, crosswind, headwind/tailwind and more. When paired with the rotating vane mount and a tripod (both sold separately) the meter becomes an independent weather station. The rotating vane securely mounts the Kestrel 5700 to any tripod or other ¼-20 fitted bracket. The large wind vane and precision pivot keeps the meter oriented into the wind for continuous measurement and logging of wind speed and all other key weather variables. Use it for research, hunting, law enforcement, military, precision & compettive shooting and many other profession or activities that require accurate monitoring. The meter features a large, high-resolution and contrast display along with a dual color backlight. It is drop-proof, dust-proof, waterproof and able to withstand harsh environments without damage. The Kestrel 5700 Sportsman monitors and logs over 10,000 weather data sets that are time-stamped.
All Kestrel 5 Series meters allow a wired communication between the meter and a PC or Mac. Use the USB Data Transfer Cable (sold separately) and Kestrel LiNK free software to install firmware updates and upload data logged from your Kestrel meter in a comma delimited text file format. Save/View in a spreadsheet, database or text-editor software program. Communication between the USB cable and Kestrel meter is optical. Therefore does not jeopardize the Kestrel's watertight seal.
With the Kestrel LiNK Ballistics free App, you can wirelessly connect the Sportsman LiNK-enabled meter via Bluetooth to an iPhone, iPad or Android mobile device. Build and manage your gun/bullet profiles and download them to your Kestrel 5700 Sportsman. Quickly adjust the target range and view the shooting solution and wind rose without leaving your shooting position. It's like having a meteorologist and ballistician standing next to you while you shoot. View real-time measurements, receive on-screen alerts and download your data. Logged data can be viewed, analyzed, archived. The App also enables firmware update of Kestrel 5 series meters. The LiNK USB Bluetooth Low Energy Dongle (sold separately) is required to connect the meter to a PC or Mac.
Note: The meter and mobile device or computer must be within a range up to 100' line of sight for adequate Bluetooth connection. If planning to wirelessly connect the meter to a PC or Mac, a non-OEM USB dongle will not work with this meter.
Kestrels have been put to the test in some of the harshest conditions on the planet. U.S. Special Forces, combat weather teams, wildland firefighters, smoke jumpers, Mt. Everest expeditions and auto pit crews are just a few who rely on a Kestrel to provide them with the crucial environmental data they need. Watch any on-screen meteorologist during a hurricane, and you're sure to spot a Kestrel in action. With a Kestrel 5700 Sportsman, you can put accurate shooting solutions and environmental measurements in the palm of your hand, anywhere your adventure takes you. There is no better partner than a Kestrel 5700 Sportsman.
