The initial sensor calibrations for wind, temperature, relative humidity, and barometric pressure on the MK-III are traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The passive solar shield for the temperature/humidity sensor are based on those designed by the U.S. National Weather Service. All materials used in the sensor assembly and weather instruments are chosen for durability and resistance to weathering and corrosion. All hardware is stainless steel and the weather station is fabricated from fiberglass and ultra-violet inhibited structural PVC.
The dramatically expanded transmission range of over one mile line of sight is a breakthrough feature of the RainWise MK-III-RTN-LR wireless weather station. This model includes all of the sensor components found on the MK-III-RTI-LR, except for the rain gauge. If rainfall measurements are not of interest to you, and your application requires a long distance between sensors and receiver, the MK-III-RTN-LR is a perfect solution.
The large decorative and highly visible RainWise MK-III Weather Oracle multi-display provides a complete set of current weather data that's viewable anywhere in a room. You have choices on brightness, as well as to wall mount or place free-standing on a table or shelf. This unit comes in four different frame types: black, cherry, or mahogany wood, and black metal.
Note: We do carry magnetic compasses to help you orient your anemometer to true north. Those can be located under the "Accessories" tab shown above. For more information on set up, please visit the anemometer page on our WeatherShack education center.
