OVERVIEW

The highly affordable, Davis Vantage Vue Wireless Weather Station combines Davis Instruments' legendary accuracy and rugged durability into a compact station that's easy to install, set up and use. Made in the USA, the Vantage Vue includes a sleek but tough outdoor sensor array and a distinctive LCD console. Its unique Weather Center function provides additional information on each weather variable. In addition, Davis has made the Vantage Vue radio-compatible with their flagship Vantage Pro2 weather stations so you can mix-and-match most components!

Like the Davis Vantage Pro2, two key factors set Vantage Vue apart from most other complete weather stations, the refresh rate and the transmission distance:

  • Refresh Rate - A packet of data is sent from the outdoor transmitter to the receiver every 2 1/2 seconds! This means when you look out the window and see the wind blowing, the weather station will reflect it almost immediately.
  • Transmission Distance - Line of sight range is 1000'. Typical range under most conditions is 300' to 500'. This is a much greater distance than most other professional units

The Davis Vantage Vue also uses the same frequency-hopping spread spectrum radio technology as the Vantage Pro2 to wirelessly send data up to 1,000 feet and provides weather updates from the outdoor integrated sensor suite to the indoor console every 2.5 seconds.

With the indoor console's Weather Center feature, Vantage Vue provides extensive additional information for each weather variable. These include daily highs and lows, temperature changes by the hour, air pressure changes and astronomical data such as moon phase and meteor showers. Additional consoles can be purchased for placement in other areas of your home such as a den, bedroom or backyard.

To make viewing weather data easier at night, Davis designed the Vantage Vue console with an easy-to-read backlit LCD display with a glow-in-the-dark keypad. A data collecting device in its own right, the console's built in sensors provide indoor temperature and humidity as well as barometric pressure measurements.

The Vantage Vue's outdoor Integrated Sensor Suite (ISS) is energized by a solar panel during the day and stored energy for power at night, making it an ideal product or gift for the "green" consumer. To ensure product longevity, the ISS sensor electronics are sealed for added protection from the elements. The assembly is even cyclic corrosion tested to simulate harsh environments such as heat, humidity and seaside conditions.

Being radio-compatible with the Vantage Pro2, VP2 owners may purchase a Vantage Vue sensor suite or console and they will work together seamlessly.

Vantage Vue stations will also work with Davis Instruments' WeatherLink data-loggers. WeatherLink allows users to view their weather data either on a PC or to stream the data to the online cloud and upload near real-time weather information.

Note: We do carry magnetic compasses to help you orient your anemometer to true north. Those can be located under the "Accessories" tab. For more information on set up, please visit the anemometer page on our WeatherShack education center.

This not my first Davis weather station. I had a Weather Monitor II system from 1999 - 2016. While the ISS is still functional (I think), capturing data using the RS-232 serial interface, old computers and third party software became functionally impossible. I purchased a wireless Vantage Vue 6357 ISS (replaces a WS-1001-WiFi Observer) plus a 6351 console (6250 bundle) and the WeatherLink LIVE 6100. If I had waited a week to order, I would have purchased the Vantage Vue sensor suite with the NEW WeatherLink Console. Bummer... My initial observations are - Pros: • Good, solid design • sheds snow accumulation well • easy to setup • Credibility - decades of experience • Weatherlink.com compatibility is a great improvement, but has problems Cons: • 6351 console display is from the 20th century • Indoor temperature reading (6351 console) increases 1-2° F if you leave the light on • Not expandable - cannot add sensors (lightning comes to mind) • Outdoor temperature reading increases in direct sun (poor solar shielding) • No SSI North-South orientation axis markings visible from ground (I add markings) • SSI level is on top - am I looking down from 10 feet? (I mount a level on the bottom) I also operate a WeatherFlow Sky / Air sensor array. While the technology is intriguing, the hepatic rain and ultrasonic wind sensors in the Sky sensor have limited functionality in Minnesota winters. It also requires more maintenance since it likes AA batteries... a lot. It does include UV, solar and lightning sensors, so will remain in operation for these features lacking on the Davis.

5 stars Vantage Vue impact statement.

Good day. Finally I have a graphic representation of my environment in the world. I initially started with a weather rock, carefully suspended by a rope from a rudimentary stick tripod, the likes of which I'm fairly certain you are familiar with. Well, this is graduation day for me, and I have chosen well! Davis is the name most familiar, and trusted, to anyone in the know about weather stations. The ordering process was easy and quick and the unit arrived in great shape. I was quite impressed with the packaging. Unpacking, assembly, and placing the unit was straight forward and easy to do. I was going to call and complain about the indicated barometric pressure being way too high, but when I trouble shot the disparity I discovered it reads quite a bit more accurately when the setup for altitude above sea level is 217.0 (actual) rather than 2170.0... go figure. (In my defense, a weather rock has no adjustment, location only). There was only one surprise; I have the base unit on the piano in the living room and when I retired for the evening, I turned the lights out and to my pleasant surprise, the lettering on the face shone brightly back at me as I headed to bed. Well done folks, very well done! Thanks for making it all available for me, I appreciate it immensely!

This is my second Davis weather station of the same model. The first one lasted about 12 years and it was not the outdoor station up on my roof that failed even though it had been through two Florida hurricanes. When the digital console eventually died I didn't hesitate to get another Davis system even though there are cheaper ones on the market now.

The combination of the display and sensor were very very simple to set up... It's got all the parameters you'd really ever want. I found this part easy to do. It's good quality construction though the wind vane is delicate.

With only the 1/2 page quick guide instructions the new Vantage View was setup and operational in less than an hour. This includes mounting 10 meters above ground to the gable end of the garage, aligning the solar panel due south, and wirelessly connecting to 2 consoles (1 new and the other 13 years old). Very well made, simple design, intuitive panel operation. My last unit served in all New England weather conditions for 13 years when the temperature sensor stopped reporting. I replaced the outdoor sensor unit and now have 2 consoles reading from the new unit. Total Plug and Play setup! Thanks Davis! Thanks Weathershack!

5 stars Great range and accurate sensors
08/29/2022
I bought this station primarily because of the extended range between the station and the console. I am satisfied with the range; it allowed me to locate the station where I wanted to. The other reason I purchased this unit was because my old station (different brand) was not giving me accurate results. So far, the results seem to be accurate. The console looks very outdated, but the variety and scope of the data is impressive. Very happy with my purchase.

Vantage Vue 6250 has been active for about a week, I did/do have an issue with the transmitter battery, but set up was fairly simple and works well. Information being provided is what I was wanting and seems to be working well.
