Classic tube thermometers measure temperature by using a liquid (typically alcohol) encapsulated within a glass tube that expands as temperature increases and contracts when temperature decreases, rising and falling with the temperature. The tiny size of the bulb and micro-fine size of the tube help the liquid reach the temperature it is measuring quickly. Classic tube thermometers measure temperatures in Fahrenheit and often include a scale in Celsius.
