DESCRIPTION

OVERVIEW

This cute little capiz chime is the perfect size to add color to any garden, apartment or dorm room.

Capiz are farmed in Indonesia and every bit is used. The pieces are carefully sorted, dried, sliced, shaped, sanded and dyed. Strung together with strong, invisible, nylon cord, the thin, flat translucent pieces provide luminous color. In the 1500s, capiz were used as windowpanes in houses; now they are used in all sorts of home decorations, including lamp shades and vases and (of course) windchimes!

This wonderful capiz chime was hand-crafted with pride by craftsmen of Bali.

I absolutely love my little capiz chime! It's very pretty to look at and to listen to. The light tinkling tone is just what I wanted---a soothing, happy sound and not too loud as to be imposing on my neighbors in the adjoining patio. (Although they like the sound, too) It's perfect!
